Dhinawan was delighted when The Hon. Paul Lynch MP, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs announced Dhinawan Dreaming won the Encouragement Award.

Brunswick Heads based Indigenous speaker and educator Dhinawan from the Gamillaroi Bigambul tribes has last night received an Encouragement Award for“Education, Learning and Knowledge”.

“I am very surprised and honoured to be receiving this award; I would like to thank the People who nominated me.”

Dhinawan delivers anti‐bullying programs and Aboriginal workshops in primary and high schools. Also as away to foster cultural awareness, Dhinawan established a Corroboree programcalled the Deadly Dancers. Made up of roughly 40 kids aged 5‐17 years of age, the group regularly performs at primary and secondary schools, as well as major events like Splendour in

These programs have brought the Indigenous Community together and have empowered the children and give them a greater respect for their cultural identity.
